15. The Corny and Creative Ideas of Multiverse Z

[You’ve leveled up Glyph Luck from 12 to 14!]

[You’ve leveled up Scope Eye from 13 to 15!]

[You’ve leveled up Combat Acrobatics from 23 to 24!]

[You’ve leveled up Armor Piercer from 24 to 25!]

[Congrats! You’ve maxed out a Basic Skill: Armor Piercer!]

Joey had a feeling this one would come up next. Killing the wretched apostle with a piercing tail spike was a dynamic way to end a boss fight. Now it was time to get a fitting attachment for a useful battle skill.

[Armor Piercer (Basic/Maxed): Thrust with power and pierce the obstacle in your way. Works best if you target a weak point unless you keep thrusting to make one. There was once a warrior who spoke proudly of his lance. He wielded a hammer, however, so I spoke to correct him. Consequently, he corrected me with a tale of how he had been stripped bare and had to best a female orc with his lance.]

[You have the opportunity of choosing a Skill Attachment for Armor Piercer: Double Penetration Attachment! Extend Penetration Attachment! Magic Penetration Attachment! Hammer Point Attachment!]

Good, only four. Joey preferred an average number of options. Between three to five. It was easier to decide on what he wanted from that.

Based on their names alone, he had a good idea of what the attachments would do. Seeing all the details confirmed his guesses.

[Double Penetration Attachment: Your penetration power is doubled when striking a weak point.]

[Extend Penetration Attachment: Your penetration extends beyond the point with subtle magic. Great against larger enemies.]

[Magic Penetration Attachment: Magic barriers and defenses are easier to penetrate even without a weak point.]

[Hammer Point Attachment: Concentrate the power of a thrust through the point and deliver blunt force damage instead of piercing damage.]

Funnily enough, Joey wasn’t quick to pick the most obvious choice: Double Penetration.

The fight with the wretched apostle had him wondering what other giant malformed bosses he would face during his climb up the spire. Would any of them have easy to identify weak spots like the first floor boss?

Joey had his doubts. How often could he target a weak point from the start?

But why would he stop aiming for weak spots just because he couldn’t find one right away? He had Assassin Grappling + Vital Sensor and Chaos Finder + Chaos Attunement that could track down weak spots if they were hard to find at a first glance.

At the end of the day, a rogue was a specialist in his craft. Even a flexible rogue needed to leverage every fortunate advantage he could find in a fight. Just like he’d done against the wretched apostle.

Extend Penetration would be useful against overly giant enemies. Joey didn’t have many ways of dealing with real big body monsters without Shade Dragon Breath. He supposed he would figure it out later.

Magic Penetration was low on the totem pole. He had Shade Dragon Breath to solve magic barriers.

Hammer Point could turn Joey’s magic gun barrages from deadly shots to stunning nonlethal blows.
